An Unexpected Show

on the lazy Sunday morning
when the city had just woken up
from a deep sweaty slumber
suddenly lightning cast a flash
and the clouds dark and energetic
gathered at once ready to enact
the howling wind got in action
as if collaborating on a mission

tattered trees swayed in fury
and the strays pranced away to glory
the chill in the air got many shivering
as the rainy show was about to begin
the old woman at the cafe
clasped her tea cup tighter
as the naughty breeze
blew in her wrinkled face with fervor

light drizzles started the show
the frenzied audience put on their hats
and on quickened toes, left the floor
as rain, the harbinger of happiness
acted in a downpour
the heavy droplets beat the weary faces
and much exalted the innocent kiddies

enjoying the thrill
basking in nature’s magic
I swiftly stepped on the wet carpet
soaking in the refreshing expo
and showered an applause
as the rainbow made a cameo
within seconds the show concluded
some surprises are best unexpected

  1. Wow…. you captured what I feel when it rains so beautifully. I am ecstatic when it rains and love the breeze, the flying drops and then of course a rainbow is an icing on the cake.

    1. I am so very pleased to know I could voice your thoughts through my words. I absolutely love rains, and each season I manage penning down something or the other. I love rainbows too. 🙂

  2. I love this, so evocative of moments past and an insight into your rains which is something I would love to experience. I love the theatrics you create and the intimacy of weather and people. Very good work, as always my friend.

    1. Nature lover that I am, I have always felt that it appeals to me in many ways as I go sauntering and observing things through the eyes of a writer. Nothing ever goes missed and I’m glad for that. As a person, I love getting drenched but when I see people scampering away, it gives me so much to think about.
It’s always immense pleasure to have you around, SteJ. It makes me happy to have a go at your thoughts.

      1. Your mind is a fascinating place and I love to read your observations of life, it gives me an insight into how you think and also gives e a different way of looking at things myself. I am glad to be around and to keep reading your words, they make me content.

        1. Your words reach deep within me, SteJ and inspire me more. I am now writing a story where a man meets his dead wife in spirit at the point when he’s counting his last breaths. It’s amazing the energy that is driving this story for me.
